Are you our new mum? MAKER Sydney is on the hunt for a management maven to keep our space running smoothly, efficiently, and awesomely.

A bit about us:

We are Sydney’s first all-vegan commercial shared kitchen space. We have a number of resident makers who use the space to operate their businesses. We also have a Takeaway Bar attached to the front (your main domain!), and have plans for a full cafe space later this year. We are located on Parramatta Road, Petersham.

We are deeply queer, feminist, and vegan. We are a Safe Space, and hold these values dear to our hearts. Please ask to see our Charter to get to really know what we’re about.

A bit about the job:

Every day is different! We are a small business just finding our feet, and so flexibility, self-motivation and innovative thinking are highly regarded.

Front of house management includes: making coffee on plant-based milks; serving customers; restocking cabinet; awareness of products we sell; placing and receiving orders; etc.

Kitchen management includes: liaising with our Maker members; managing users of the space; following up on cleaning rosters and checklists; ensuring the clean and efficient running of the space; etc.

A bit about you:

Customer service superstar! Are you friendly, personable, and keen on maintaining relationships to develop regular customers? Managing the front of house space means looking after our customers, educating them on what we do, and making them a mean soy flat white.

Flexible! No week is the same, and we’ll always be throwing new tasks or ideas at you.

Hardworking - this is our baby, and a very demanding one at that. We work long hours on our feet and hope that you can meet challenges alongside us.

Coffee experience highly desirable, in addition to general hospitality experience.

Social media and marketing experience highly desirable to manage our newsletter and liaise with our social media manager.

Excellent communication skills - we believe in open and honest communication to look after ourselves and one another.

Able to work unsupervised, be self-motivated and task-driven.

A passionate ethics driven babe of a human!

Previous front of house or hospitality management experience preferred.

Full driver’s license desirable but not required.

This is a part-time position with regular hours but does require some flexibility with other events and workshops that we hold. Usual hours are Wednesday - Saturday, 8:30am - 4pm.
